To get the correct spacing, I sketched the curliques of
the velvet and rhinestone tracks onto a muslin mockup..
I was very fortunate to have a friend who took pictures of
the real Cher coat while it was on display in Las Vegas. Because the pixels were so large in the photo I was able to
blow it up for details of the stone work.
This is the beginning construction of the hat.
I used some really nice resin rhinestones for the shapes. Again, those blown-up pictures made all the difference. I
was able to clearly see the shapes that were needed and count the smaller rhinestones. The lines are silver seed beads
that are sewn to the hat. There are jet (black) rhinestones in the black spaces between the crystal stones.
This is the real Cher Arctic Coat that is on display in Las
Vegas.

The coat is about half-way finished. The fur is
on the hood, but not on the cuffs yet. The basic large stone work is done but the smaller stones are not on it yet.
The fur is an imitation lamb's wool that curls on the ends.
